The Road to India

After many years I recently went to India where, despite a very busy agenda, I succeeded to visit the Golden Temple of Amritsar. I also did some shopping at the airport.

My last visit dates back to the 1980s.  In New Delhi I used to stay at the hotel Imperial, an old, a little run down and in need of refreshing hotel, where Gandhi and Nehru discussed the independence of India with the British. Now It has been totally refurbished  and transformed into a palace with rates only rich British and Indians can afford. I had my breakfast there, however and wandered through the corridors in the search of old memories. The little jewellery shop where I bought a strand of grey pearls has been replaced by a Chanel boutique.
