Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican celebration to
remember the victory of Mexican troops led by the General Ignacio Zaragoza over French
troops during the battle of Puebla in 1882. It is not the Independence Day,
which is celebrated the 16 September. Cinco de Mayo is also increasingly celebrated
in California and the South West of the US.
I like Mexican culture in all its aspects, including
fashion, food and literature. Many years ago I bought a Mexican dress in the
market of Ciudad de Mexico. I was hesitating and the seller, an old man, told
me Senhorita, you cannot leave Mexico without an embroidered dress. The dress
kept all its colours after all these
years and I always wear it with pleasure.
These are some pics of Mexican fashion:
Thank you for your visit. I do hope it will be the first of many.
